Re: Need help recovering dynamic disks

Update - I created the spanned volume. It automatically prompted me that the disks will be converted to Dynamic.

Output from Advanced -> Boot

Drive X: - 966 GB / 899 GiB - CHS 117486 255 63
Partition Start End Size in sectors
P NTFS 0 0 1 117486 189 15 1887424512

Boot sector
Status: Bad

Backup boot sector
Status: OK

Sectors are not identical.

A valid NTFS Boot sector must be present in order to access
any data; even if the partition is not bootable.

I tried "Backup BS" after which both boot sectors showed OK. I tried to list the files but it was not able to read the FS.

I tried "Rebuild BS". It is currently running.

Drive X: - 966 GB / 899 GiB - CHS 117486 255 63
Partition Start End Size in sectors
P NTFS 0 0 1 117486 189 15 1887424512

Please let me know the result.
Can you list your data?
If not, it'd look like that your file system is damaged or start and size of your partition doesn´t match.
In case, you'll need datarecovery software.
Info will follow.

It is still running. If I am not able to list the data, what data recovery software would you recommend?

In your case datarecovery software with spanned volume and RAID support would be recommended.
Restorer Ultimate Pro would probably an idea?
Each data recovery software has its own algorithm, so it's best to test a trial first.
That's why it's difficult to recommend any software.

Rebuild BS completed. Still not able to list files. Tried Repair MFT as well. It says it cannot be repaired.

Is there anything else that I should try? Or should I just start looking at data recovery software?

Running the restore using Restorer Ultimate Pro. Looks promising. I will keep you posted.

Hi Fiona,

Restorer Ultimate Pro was able to successfully recover all the files on the drive.

Thank you so much for your help! You are a life saver!
