No Partition Found

#1 Post by MTheo »

Hello,

My hard drive has magically gone from NTFS to RAW, which of course means I can't access the data. I've followed the step by step instructions on TestDisk website, up until Quick Search for Partitions. I have done this stage, but nothing was found (see attached image). I had to manually select the partition type as Intel, as TestDisk couldn't detect a type.

I don't know where to go next. Log file is here:

You don't need to search for the partition, it hasn't been deleted.

Run TestDisk, Advanced, Boot, RebuildBS, List. If you can see your files, Write, confirm, Quit and restart your computer.

Ok, it looks as though most of the files have been recovered. Before I commit to writing the Boot Sector, it thinks it's a FAT drive, when it was originally an NTFS. Do you know if this will be a problem?

Thanks again in advance

Ferox, please run latestTestDisk 7.1-WIP, Advanced, Boot, RebuildBS, List. If you can see your files, Write, confirm, Quit and restart your computer.
If it doesn't please post the testdisk.log file.

I too have the same issue (Can see files and use them but can't Chkdsk. Also I delete files and they come back!) but can't quite solve it using the above help. For example..
please run latestTestDisk 7.1-WIP, Advanced, Boot, RebuildBS, List. If you can see your files, Write, confirm, Quit and restart your computer.
I run 7.1, select 'Advanced', 'Boot', and get this:
Image
I then RebuildBS and get this..
Image
So I List and can see files. I go back and Write and get:

Arrgh!
Can anyone help?

My testdisk log (Using 7.0) is ....
