Samsung Recovery Solution broke D: Partition Data, windows 7

#1 Post by Turson »

Hi TestDisk forum.
Nice to meet you.

My issue: by mistake, I booted through F4 key: Samsung Recovery Solution (Windows Recovery), and this broke my Partition D:\ hard drive data in NTFS. Awful software! :?
Netbook Samsung, OS: windows 7 sp1 32-bit.
Hard Disk Drive 2.5": Hitachi HTS543232A7A384

Windows displays the lost partition (before D:), as Uncategorised Letter, without options, and marked as Partition Recovery: 226GB. Currently, Partition OEM.

GParted Live displays:

Flag: DIAG, removing this, the trouble remains.

I had to create another User Account Windows, because the former account left the system slow to starting system and exploring files. And warning: "...\Desktop refers to a location that is not available."

The info displays by GParted about this lost partition D: is:
Size: 226.33 GiB
First Sector: 115.957.169
Last Sector: 590.596.095
All sectors: 474.638.927

TestDisk 7.0 displays this after Deep Search (It doesn't match the sizes displayed by GParted):

However, through TestDisk just clicking on "Analise" or "Advanced", these display the right size of the lost partition. Being labeled "Diag", TestDisk displays the lost partition with the name "4 P Compaq Diagnostics", it's that!:

Samsung Recovery Solution 5 on my computer also makes drive image backups, I just did one last week. So I assume that V5 will too, but on Windows 7 onwards, Windows can do that OK beyond the original factory setup.

Hi again TestDisk forum.

Excuse me, some suggestion?
I have not made changes on Netbook, since that time.
I doubt if 'Restore Points' work to Fix D: partition. Perhaps, those no longer exist.

Hi TestDisk forum, and mister cgrenier.

Please, any suggestions, so be it, use another application.
But, I have given information about my issue.

Or, Should I then discard recovery partition software, and choose a good and free File (Images) Recovery??
:?
