Recover multiple partitions from deeper scan with 'D' label

#1 Post by harshghorpade »

Situation :
1. Windows 7 installation interrupted due to some error and did not proceeds further in next try so opted to install Ubuntu instead, Ubuntu installation also interrupted first time but successful second time.
2. After Ubuntu installation I didn't find any of my drives(totally 5, 3 has data, 1 for windows and 1 for ubuntu), again tried to install windows as I was not much familiar with ubuntu and it failed,so basically my notebook
has no operating at all and getting error as "error:unknown filesystem" on startup.
3. Opened TestDisk with the bootable USB from Parted Magic and was able to find my lost 3 drives in deeper search, however all of them marked as D.
Question :
Need suggestion regarding what to do now ?
1. I tried copying the files inside one of drive to folder "Documents" using Copy file action, but I don't know where are stored currently and was not able to see them, it can be possible to copy these files to external HDD if connected during that time ?
2. Change the status of partition from D to L and Write the partition table(?? is it possible ?)
or else please suggest the better way.

Use the arrow keys to switch the 3 partitions to recover from D(eleted) to P(rimary).
On next screen, choose Write, confirm, Quit and restart your computer.
