The result from testdisk is

Disk sagem.img - 250 GB / 232 GiB - CHS 30402 255 63
Partition Start End Size in sectors

Structure: Ok.

The following page has the additional message
"No partition found or selected for recovery"
This result is the same for both "Quick search" and "Deep search"

Please do another full scan with options "Cylinder Boudary : No" (or alignement : No)

I've scanned with "Cylinder Boundary: No"
but the results are the same for "Quick Search" and "Deep Search". No difference from the last search.

Should I choose the "partition table type" other than "intel/PC partition". Would that help?

Did you already make a boot sector diagnose using partition table type None, if you're working with an image?
You can confirm through until you see Analyse.
Don't confirm at analyse but advanced.
If your image appears as Unknown, go to Type and add your previous partition type like FAT32 (I have no idea about your previous file system now, that's why it's only an example)?
Then you can confirm at boot and run Rebuild BS.
If it would be successful, you should see the menu list.
Please check, do you see your data or an error message.

"Advance" shows this

Disk sagem.img - 250 GB / 232 GiB - CHS 30402 255 63

Partition Start End Size in sectors
P Unknown 0 0 1 30401 80 63 488397168

The "type" option has something like 30 file systems listed, going through each is going to take a while to do. Have done a few file systems and searched them with "Super Block" but with no luck so far.

Unfortunately, I dont know the file system. I've emailed Sagem about it a few months ago, and they say they don't have that info. If I knew the structure of the file system, I could write the software myself.
I've been assured that http://www.ezvan.fr/public/logiciels/papa/DVBT2MPG.ZIP, is capable of reading and extracting video streams stored on the hard drive, but it doesnt recognise the device. I want to send the author an email, but I can't speak french

I'll send results once I've gone through all file systems with "Super Block".

If your disk was linux based, then there is no option to rebuild a boot sector.
You can use the info that TestDisk provides;

It seems you are "william" on this forum, aren't you ?
http://community.sagemcomdigital.co.uk/ ... _drive_use

So answers that were already given :
Nobody knows what was this filesystem. Perhaps ertfs : proprietary filesystem. Didn't find a way to mount it under windows or linux.

DVBT2MPG : software written to extract the vids from the sagem disk runnig. Not usefull for you I bet.

So you'll have to... write a driver for ertfs and release a fuse-ertfs version to mount your partition under linux. :?

Or perhaps, if it's the right filesystem, you may find help at the source ?

Don't think testdisk will be able to recover this. Perhaps in future ?
