Undelete multiple versions of files with same name

#1 Post by myllaeri »

Hello to all,

In advance, already many thanks for your help

I'm Using Testdisk on Win10-x64 to undelete (copy to local harddisk) files from an USB flash drive.

In some directories there are deleted files with different timestamps but same file names.
is it possible to undelete every file version, the lastest file version is somehow corrupted (strange symbols in large XML-ish file)?
Maybe it's possible to open an older file version with the appropriate software.

I'm a native german speaker / writer, please excuse my "hopefully not so bad" english.

Greetings - Myllaeri

You need to restore the file using TestDisk one file at the time and check (or rename) the recovered file before restoring the next one.
If it doesn't work, you can also use PhotoRec on the free space of the partition.
In both case, be careful to store the recovered files on another partition than the source, otherwise you may overwritten your deleted data.
