ran diskpart on a 4TB drive....

#1 Post by imwithstupid »

so i ran the following on the wrong disk.

clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format fs=ntfs quick
assign

i am currently using v7.0 (should i use 7.1?) and with Photorec i was able to pull data off it. the problem is that is so much data and will take me a life time to sort through it (if i have to do it i will. lol)

right now i am running testdisk deep search and it still has a while to finish (at 3% now).

my question is, am i on the right path?

so far this is where it is at.

Thanks!

Try testdisk, Advanced, undelete.
If you had a single NTFS partition, as a single NTFS partition has been recreated, the same location have been used to store the NTFS boot partition, its backup, NTFS MFT records and so on.
In this case, you should sort the files recovered by PhotoRec. Some tips are listed in https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.pdf

Does this mean that it found my partition? should i select deeper search or write? will write bring back all my old data or overwrite everything where i cannot recover it?

As "Big Bubba" is an empty partition, you should try Undelete and if it doesn't work, PhotoRec.

i tried the undelete (under advanced options) and it said no deleted files but PhotoRec finds the files. is there any other way to recover the entire drive?
