TestDisk Freezing, Analyse cylinder at 60801/60800: 99%

#1 Post by sagefox601 »

Hello,

Very recently I deleted (almost) everything off of an SDD that I was using as an external drive not realizing that I hadn't backed up the most up-to-date versions of a handful of important documents (docx files). Undelete was only able to pull up the last 10 gigs of data or so that were deleted, none of which was what I needed. Photorec was able to get almost all the picture, video, and pdf files but all the document files were corrupted. When attempting to run TestDisk>analyse>quick search, the progress almost immediately jumps from 00% to 99% and freezes. Any help or suggestions on getting past this problem or in general getting my data back would be greatly appreciated!

Searching the partitions (Analyse, Quick Search...) is useless in your case. Your partition is not deleted, your files are.
Can you confirm that all docx you have recovered using PhotoRec are corrupted ? I found it very strange.

They definitely are, most are only 1 or 2 pages of nothing or gibberish. I'm not sure if this would affect the ability of photorec to recover the documents, but they were set up with numerous text boxes and images. Also, while there were only ~15 documents total, photorec retrieved easily 50 or 60 documents.

Do you get better results if only zip file family are selected in FileOpts ?
