External 1TB Toshiba- Not sure where to go after locate

#1 Post by ozstar »

Hi,

I chose 'Analyse' an got a Bad Sectors error.

Chose 'Locate partition' and it went through all the files then ended up with no data under the heading Partition, Start, End, Size in sectors.

Bottom of screen says, Keys A: to add partition, L: load backup and Enter: to Continue

Chose Enter and the.. No partition found or selected for recovery with a Deeper Search option

It goes through numbers then nothing shows again under the titles except the options to Add, Load or Not sure what to do now.

Decided to stop it, reboot then start again and got this..

Well, on the second screen, it seems to have found the partition, did you try to press p to see if you can see your files?
As it also had bad sectors and maybe more damage, I would also recommend to make an image of the whole drive to a second disk, as bad sectors/hardware errors will probably get worse.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes I did press P and saw the files but wasn't sure what to do next.

I couldn't wait any longer so went to a free trial partition program and it fixed it within a few seconds.

I have used this many times in the past to fix things but have forgotten what I did so didn't want to take any chances with important data.

I do understand the help here may not be forthcoming and that's fine. It is a great script.

Thanks again.
