directory turned into a file? . . .

#1 Post by lweinberg »

there is a file (an odt document) that I had inside of a directory which got removed somehow.

After reading testdisk's procedures and trying it in different ways, I still find on testdisk.log what used to be that directory listed as:

X11535268 -rw-r--r-- 1000 1000 86126 22-Nov-2018 14:22 2018-06-16_ThinkPad_L512

Image

Any hope of saving that file?

Yu ca try to copy this file using TestDisk and if it doesn't wok, use PhotoRec on the free space of this ext4 partition.
Be careful to not write new data on the source parition until you have confirmed that you have recovered your lost file.
