Hi all,
I have an iMac and I primarily used the bootcamp portion of it.
One day, I accidentally deleted the entire mac partition (stupid, I know)
and today I tried to get it back by using testdisk. It found what I
presumed to be my missing partition so I went ahead and pressed "write".
It told me to reboot, so I did, but now my computer is perpetually
stuck in the "No Bootable Device - Insert Boot Disk and Press Any Key".
It was really unwise of me to try and attempt this during my finals
week of college, and I need my computer now more than ever. Please
help. Thank you in advance.

Re: Can't boot at all after testdisk write
You have to restart the partition search and keep the correct partitions this time.
As it's a Mac OSX, the partition table type is EFI GPT.
Good luck

What exactly does that mean? My apologies, I'm new to testdisk.
How do I go about doing this if I can't boot up my computer at all?

Re: Can't boot at all after testdisk write
It's possible to boot your computer from a Linux (ie. Fedora) or Windows DVD / USB key and start testdisk from here.
Re: Can't boot at all after testdisk write
Alright, thanks. I will give that a go
Re: Can't boot at all after testdisk write
Hi again. So I tried creating the bootable USB with rufus but it still doesn't recognize the USB. I tried to run this USB on another laptop and it ran fine so the USB is not the problem. Could testdisk have caused something in the hard drive to become irreparable? Thanks.
