Lost partition table after raid 5 disk fault

#1 Post by JohnnyBE »

Hello,

For some reason I lost the partition table of a 1,4 TB disk array.
The array has ESXi 4.0 installed but is now not accessible since the partition information is lost.

What would be the best way to proceed if the main goal is to recover the lost virtual machines in the VMFS datastore somewhere on the disk array.

First off I'll get myself a 2TB backup disk to copy an image of the excisting array end then...

Thanks for your help.
Johnny

Good idea to begin with duplication.

May you be more precise : Did you lost the raid array or did you lost the partition only ? What tries and changes did you made ?
