How can I clear or sanitize my microSD card?

#1 Post by ohgees » 18 Jun 2019, 02:15

Ok first off, Works Great! I have tried to encrypt the entire microSD with LUKS format. I have tried to write /dev/random and /dev/urandom data to the microSD card and also /dev/zero with many passes, and of course without fail photorec is able to recover everything I have tried to destroy.

Has any new technology or software been able to actually at least clear or better yet sanitize microSD, ssd's etc... without having to smash old chips?

Sincerely,
How come you data won't go away! :)

If you overwrite your device content with /dev/zero or /dev/urandom (Avoid /dev/random as it is blocking), PhotoRec should not be able to recover anything.
