Multi-frame Fuji RAF files

#1 Post by floessie »

Hi there,

for the first time my Fuji compact camera borked the FAT on the SD card, but thanks to PhotoRec I was able to recover all the files. Thank you very much!

Now, there's a little caveat: The recovered RAFs contain only the first of two frames the camera stores in the DR EXR mode. Instead of a ~25MB RAF I get a ~13MB RAF. RawTherapee offers both frames (as read from the EXIF), but the second one is completely black (as expected, because it's missing).

It would be super cool, if PhotoRec could just go on recovering the RAF if there's a second frame within.

Thanks,
Flössie

Can you send me (ie. google drive) an original unmodified multi-frame RAF file ?
I will try to fix PhotoRec to recover them correctly.

Hello Christophe,

Thank you for taking a look. Here's a sample for you to play with:

If you need more samples or hints from the RawTherapee folks don't hesitate to ask.

Best,
Flössie

Salut Christophe,

I've tried it and am more than impressed: Everything was recovered and is usable with the current 7.2-WIP. Thank you so much! This saved some memorable holiday shots which deserve to be processed by HDRMerge and RawTherapee.

Best,
Flössie
