Corrupt (pretty sure) SD card recovery

#1 Post by AmenoBars »

Hi all,

A friend had her SD card fail in her Android phone. I'm trying to get as much as I can off it, but I've not really had luck so far and it's been something of a nightmare.

It's a 32gb SD card, which when plugged into windows doesn't get detected immediately. Instead, it causes Explorer to become quite slow, and when it eventually shows as a drive, it's in RAW format. Trying to open it causes explorer to crash.

I've tried both Photorec and Testdisk to see if I can get anything off it. Each time it takes about 5 minutes to locate the disk, and then going from each option to the next via "Proceed" etc is extremely slow. I'm assuming this is symptomatic of a corrupt SD card?

Has anyone got any ideas on the best way for me to get something off this, if at all possible?

I've got a .dd of the entire SD card that I'm running Photorec on at the moment, but if that doesn't work is there any other options?

Cheers
Chris

It looks like a damaged SD card, software solution will not help in your case.
You should contact a data recovery company.
