mp4 recovery issue/question

#1 Post by dooder »

So i was able to recover a few mp4s. But some are playable and others are not. I tried searching for this but i'm just a bit confused on to do from here. I read something about a video repair tool in one thread, but i have no idea what to actually use for that.

I dont think its the permissions as I believe I changed the permissions correctly and multiple files worked before even doing so. So i'm guessing i need a video repair tool or maybe something else. anyways, thanks for any comments or ideas

Your description is confusing:
So i was able to recover a few mp4s...]
How? Using which software?
I dont think its the permissions as I believe I changed the permissions correctly and multiple files worked before even doing so.
What is "its"?
What did you do with regards to permissions?
How does that relate to broken mp4s?

sorry, photorec.

The subject is the broken mp4.

I read in the troubleshoot area and in a few threads to give more permissions to ensure that they can be opened. But prior to making sure 'everyone' can use them there were mp4s that did work.

My only issue really is, because i assume the broken mp4s aren't a permissions issue but a broken issue, is a video repair tool. I just don't know any tools that do that and google is just full of paid adware programs that I suspect do not really do the job.

Again, I don't get what you want to say.

Anyway, rights issues have nothing to do with broken video files.
You either have access to a recovered file or not. There are no file systems that handle access rights below file level.

There is a big open source universe beside freeware, adware and similar stuff.
Please search the net and provide feedback here for others that face the same problem which software works well.

Thanks. I'll wait for someone knowledgeable on video repair tools.
