TestDisk cannot find a partition that PhotoRec can read

#1 Post by Micha33 »

Hello everybody,

First, thank you for your patience as I am a newbie !
Here is what happened to me : I have been trying to create a backup of Windows 10 via Media Creator tool on an external drive which contained other personal data.
It did work except Windows created a partition with my personal data Under RAW format.
When I connect my external drive to the PC, Windows Explorer can only see the partition created by Windows for Windows 10 backup.
PhotoRec does seem to recognize the other partition with my personal data :

I did succeed in retrieving part of the files by selecting "whole disk"mais but it is not complete and messy. (no original names nor folders)
Here is the result for TestDisk

Neither "Quick search" nor "deep search" provided results ! I can only see data saying MS Data, which I think relate to Windows 10 back up.

Has anyone an idea on the above ?

Thanks in advance.
