Recover GraphPad Prism files

#1 Post by prttyswt »

Hello cgsecurity board,
currently I am trying to recover files from a USB stick which contains Graphpad Prism files. The file extension is .pzfx.
The problem is, that the first part of the file contains .xml information. The rest of the file contains data which is only readable by the graphpad software. It is explained here: https://www.graphpad.com/guides/prism/7 ... format.htm.
What I've tried so far: I used photorec to recover all the files from the USB stick. For the graphpad files, it could only recover the XMl part of the file.
When I checked if the file extension is recognized by fidentify, it is recognized as a .xml file.
Then I tried to create a custom signature as explained in the testdisc documentation. The problem was that i could not find the specific signature for the .pzfx file, only for the xml part.
I am very thankful for any kind of help!

Rename a recovered .xml file as .pzfx and try to open it. If it works, rename all xml files recovered by PhotoRec.
