All the data lost after MacOS reinstallation

#1 Post by Nishan »

Hi everyone. I am really struggling to recover my photos and files from my MacBook Air 2015.

I installed Ubuntu alongside the MacOS(dual boot). After the Linux installation, The MacOS was not properly functioning. Every time I wanted to shut down the computer, I had to force shut down it by pressing the power button. So, I though that the Linux installation had to do something with that and deleted the Linux. Then, The MacOS got cracked and I could only see grub as a booting option. The MacOS partition's name was automatically changed to 'FFFFFFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFF' like the following.

I found some thread similar to my problem and it was suggested to reinstall the MacOS and it was written that I won't loss any data with that. Then , I reinstalled the MacOs and now I have only one partition Macintosh inside 'disk utility'.

I tried to recover them by teskdisk but it is not working in my case.

Yes, Testdisk still shows me that volume and also Ubuntu volume but it says that 'Not supported for this type of file'. is there a way to get back my files and photos.

Could someone help me ? please!
