QPhotorec can not find MOD files

#1 Post by tiikeri »

Hi,
Im trying recover some videos for my father from SD Card however im troubled.
Qphotorec can find orf, jpg, mov, txt, gz, apple and tif files BUT no mod files.
Is it because Qphotorec interface do not have all options visible than photorec?
or possible something else ?
I did put X to saving mov and mod files separately but did not take X from mov.

I posted the list of formats to show you that there is no support for "mod" files.
You would need to read chapter twelve of the manual "CREATING CUSTOM SIGNATURE FOR PHOTOREC".

I am new on the forum and am asking questions of my own, but I'll refer you to this article on MediaWiki:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOD_and_TOD

In short, the article implies that MOD files are equivalent to MPEG-2 files, so if you do need to define your own template for the MOD file format (as suggested by @recuperation), you might want to view the file template for MPEG-2 and use that as a guide.

DISCLAIMER: I am not an expert in anything (other than searching the internet for answers), so please take my advice with more than a grain of salt.

Thanks for posting that information!

The obvious consequence is that MOD files while not be labeled different from other mpeg files when being recovered using Photorec.

You did not provide any documentation in your case.
I can only guess that your card is broken and recommend you consulting a professional recovery lab.
