Bad BS repair

#1 Post by JW1977 »

Hi!

I accidentally started formatting an external drive. After a second or so i ripped the cord out.
The diskmanager now shows the disk as RAW.
Testdisk can find a FAT 16 partition but it states BAD Boot sector.
I choose to rebuild the BS. After several hours i got the question if a directory was found. My options where Yes, no, Quit, Abort interactive mode.
There was a list of some kind with strange dates in it. I was not sure so i choose to abort.
Unfortunately i havent got the posibility to save the picture online so i cant post it here.

Can someone please guide me?

Please post a Testdisk log file.

7. What is the size of your disk?
8. Who is the maker of your failed drive?
9. What is the model?
13. How many partitions have been on the broken drive, what was their size, what was their file system?

Here are step by step instructions:

https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step

If trying to list your files using the "p"-key fails even upon deep search, use another (commercial) recovery software or use Photorec.
