Recovered .gz files from ext4 ubuntu

#1 Post by pockata »

Hey guys, nice to meet everyone here! I have a question - we got one EBS volume from AWS removed completely. We attached it as a volume to a recovery instance and we used PhotoRec 7 to restore .gz files ( which are pretty big 25 gb SQL files zipped into .gz ). Some of the files were found and the process finished but the file size is way different - 5 gb or 10 gb, definitely not 25 GB.

Also when trying to gunzip them all of them are broken. I tried to find any useful info in the forum, but I could not. Highly appreciate your feedback!
