This is a problem in linux/ubuntu/mate 23.04
I want to use photorec to recover some jpg lost files.
Photorec does not recognise the external HDD (sdc) where I want to copy the recovered files (I want to use an external HDD bcs I don't want to risk a corruption of the intrenal HDD)
However, at the first phase, photorec is listing the external HDD sdc. But when comes the choice of the destination disk sdc is not listed.
Note I have checked with Caja and sdc is mounted.
photorec ne trouve pas le disque externe comme destination / Photorec doesn't list the external HDD as destination

You did not write what kind of disk /dev/sdc is.
If it's a HDD it certainly has a partition table and at least one partition that is mounted somewhere in the linux folder tree.
When you are recovering pictures using Photorec the target location is never a raw disk but always a location within the file system, typically a folder where Photorec can put folders and recovered files inside.
