Has TestDisk a preview or scan that shows what it can fix before modify anything in the disk?

#1 Post by Jjcb »

Has TestDisk a preview or scan that shows what it can fix before modify anything in the disk (any sector, or format, or whatever) , so I can test with any other method or tool in case it doesn't report anything?

My hard drive it's supposed to have an unknown partition. Yesterday it was NTFS encrypted with veracrypt, and it didn't boot, so I use the veracrypt rescue disk to decrypt it, and after that it's unknown...

It is supposed to be decrypted now, and I would like to try with your solution, but only if it doesn't modify the disk in any way, so if it doesn't work, I can try with any other method

Thank you.

Unless you don't instruct Testdisk to write anything, it is just analyzing.
Duplicating your drive using ddrescue is recommended, nevertheless.
