Data written on /dev/sda while trying to repair NTFS on /dev/sdb

#1 Post by afullo »

Dear all,

I'm trying right now to repair a NTFS partition on an external hard drive (/dev/sdb), TestDisk is searching mft and it is about one third of the total sector size.
It seems that the operation is also writing some big data on the internal hard drive of my PC (/dev/sda): I had 70 GB of free space before starting, but now it is literally zero.
Is it normal? I hope at least that it is temporary and these data will get canceled after the end, in order not to have possible problems related to the space unavailability...

Thanks in advance ;)
