Partition seems to be recovered but can't save any files

#1 Post by konjina »

My USB got corrupted all of a sudden and (while the RAW partition is correctly detected) I can't extract anything from it.
I've used the backupBR but everything I get is just a rubbish list of files and even then I'm not able to save any of them.
Wonder what I'm doing wrong.

What is "backupBR"? Please speak to me in full words.
Why did you select expert mode?
What exactly did you do?
The file system type in your partition table (NTFS) differs from the file system in your partition(s) (EXFAT).

Step by step:
1) I insert my USB and start testdisk
2) I select my USB

3) I go to quick search, both partitions are detected. The first partition is automatically detected as "NTFS", but in the bottom it says exFAT (which is correct)

4) I go back to Advanced - Boot - sectors are now identical. Before they were not so I restored original boot sector with the backup boot record (BR)

Only 3 attachments allowed so I continue
5) I go to back and then do List, I get this
step4.png
step4.png (40.34 KiB) Viewed 1689 times
6) I select all, and try to copy the files. All fail
There's no difference if I try selecting individually

I selected expert mode hoping that I'll get more options, no other reasons.
Let me know if you need anything else

The content of your partition looks broken unfortunately.
Continue with deeper search to see if you find more partitions and examine them using the "p"-key exactly the way you did now.
If that fails try out other commercial recovery software.

If everything fails, use PhotoRec.
