How to start PhotoRec?

#1 Post by 1stTime »

Hello, sorry for my bad english.
My question is exactly this viewtopic.php?p=37730

In English:
I want recover/rescue files from a RAM-Disk (type ramfs)
Therefore I can not Reboot (RAM would erased)

- I downloaded testdisk-7.2.linux26-x86_64.tar.bz2
- I unpacked it
- I allow the files executing
- Start in Terminal:
sudo ./photorec_static
sudo ./testdisk_static
results in error messages

System: Ubuntu MATE 18.04.3 LTS (Bionic Beaver) 32-Bit

My question #1: Can TestDisk & PhotoRec rescue files from RAM-Disk?
My question #2: Wow can I start the programs portable in Linux-Terminal?

Thank you for your answers.

You are referring to a problem that is described in German language. Why don't you write in German language if your English is bad?

And the error messages are not worth posting?

You should download the 32-bit version of TestDisk for a 32-bit operating system. Instead you downloaded the 64-bit version.

I don't know. I guess that under linux TestDisk and PhotoRec can operate on anything that is listest as a block device - use "lsblk" to list your block devices.
My question #2: Wow can I start the programs portable in Linux-Terminal?
Please post a dump of your activities using your linux terminal - error messages INCLUDED.
