I guess it is a HDD, in case of being a SSD the SSD can be broken but allowing read operations.

yes, it is a SATA HGST Z5K500-500 (hopefully this is the model).ASMT 2115 is most likely not the model. This seems to be rather an USB/SATA interface circuit.
It used to be an internal HDD of an ASUS laptop.
