wrong fs type
Hello,
I have a message in Dolphin (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS) when I plug in my 1To external drive : "wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1"
I am kind of a noob: I had a hard time launching testdisk in a terminal and then I could not find how to fix this storage (still accessible via windows). Can someone walk me through recovery, please?

Re: wrong fs type
Please generate a TestDisk log file. This documents shows you how:
https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step
Please describe how your disk was partitioned (how many partitions, how big, which file systems being used).

Re: wrong fs type
I don't know.
In Windows the file testdisk.log is written into the folder where the TestDisk executable resides.
When using linux, look into that directory, look into your home directory and look into your working directory - use the pwd command to show it.
Please run the analyse function in TestDisk to ensure that the file exists because I don't know at which moment the file will be created in linux.

Re: wrong fs type
You are not operating with admin rights. TestDisk cannot perform this way. Have a look into the TestDisk manual and/or the tutorials on cgsecurity.org.

Hint for advanced users: dmsetup may be used if you prefer to avoid rewriting the partition table for the moment:
echo "0 1953112064 linear /dev/sdd 2048" | dmsetup create test0
echo "0 1953112064 linear /dev/sdd 411648" | dmsetup create test1
interface_write()
No partition found or selected for recovery
simulate write!
write_mbr_i386: starting...
write_all_log_i386: starting...
No extended partition
TestDisk exited normally.
Re: wrong fs type
Hello,
I have tried again,
When I "quit the file listing" with "q", I do not have the "Write" to choose but only "List" again :
even if I had selected all files with "a".
It looks like I miss something. Sorry if this is the case, but please help.
I have tried again,
Code: Select all
