My external Hard Drive suddenly lost it's format.

#1 Post by ELSH »

I have an external 3TB LaCie Big Disk Quadra that lost it's format. It shows up in the device manager but as Unallocated and says I need to initialize and format it which just is NOT an option. The Drive is GPT NTFS formatted and I need to know how to repair the filesystem and make the drive usable without reformatting it.

Run TestDisk, Advanced, select the partition, Boot, RebuildBS, List. If it works, choose Write and confirm, Quit and restart your computer.
