recovery 3T GPT partitions

#1 Post by biotank »

Hi,

I have a 3T WD green drive, and divided into 3 partitions, a little bit after a month I couldn't access my drive any more, I check with the disk manager, and all 3 partitions shows "RAW", I googled and found testdisk might be able to help me to retrieve the partitions.

1. so here is what I did, ran the testdisk_win.exe under adminstrator
2. select partition table type to "EFI GPT", and bottom of the screen also shows EFI GPT partition table is detected
3. choose the hard drive, and did a quick search
4. found 4 partitions, which is correct ( 3 formatted partition and unused partition)

now what do I do ?? I try to list the files, but error msg shows damage partition ?

cylinders and heads mismatch, so I think you would need to change the geometry. it should be under advanced.
an example of this is on the testdisk home.

I end up using "R Studio" to retrieve the data, I think 90% of data were retrieved by the software

I had the same exact issue with the same hard drive. My pc had an improper shutdown after losing power, I used R - studio and I was able to retrieve 100% of the data as it exactly was. I used my other 3 TB to back the data to. I am not sure if there is away to fix the hard drive to allow it to see the file structure.
