Fiona - Finally got Testdisk to run with a livecd. Same issues with read errors

Cgrenier - it runs quietly, but makes a humming.. maybe slight grinding sound every 5 secs or so.. if the head is dmg.. means I prob have to go professional recovery route?

if this helps also this is what I see when I hooked it up to an external USB to another computer. I can see it, but it won't give it a drive letter or be able to access it.

If you hear a slightly grinding sound means, immediately switch off your PC and remove your harddrive.
Otherwise you'll increase damage.
So it will be a case for a professional recovery.
