sorting files

#1 Post by earwigo »

Question - what do I do with all the files which are not Word, jpeg, video.
I am a novice at this.
I have succesfully recovered files from my external WD hard drive.
What I have now is about 60folders labelled recup_dir.
Each of these has recovered files but all mixed up and renamed so I dont know what they are.
I can easily identify jpegs, videos and Word docs. but there are many hundred text files.

You may use the advices listed in http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/After_Using_PhotoRec to sort your files.
For files like .txt or .html, if you don't need them, you can always delete them. Most often recovered .txt are fragment of other files.
