Files recovered, but how do I get them?

#1 Post by likethegum »

Hi everyone, please forgive my REALLY STUPID question:

I seem to have successfully recovered files from a dead flash drive - if so, I'm very impressed, as the drive wasn't even showing up in W7.

The problem is, the files are saved in "testdisk-6.14-WIP/recup_dir" and I can't find that directory, either through the search command or through exploring the C drive myself. I installed TestDisk yesterday, but don't see a folder for it, or PhotoRec, or CGSecurity.

Again, I am a complete bonehead around this, but if anyone can help I'll be very grateful. If I can recover these files, I feel a lot more confident about a bigger damaged drive that I'd like to try to recover (though I'd be sure to specify where the files are going if at all possible to do so).

Thanks!

Well, I found the files in my Temp folder (duh)...I tried scanning another drive and setting it to recover files to an external hard drive, but couldn't figure THAT out. Is that possible, or do files need to be stored in Temp?

Thanks. Yes, I AM a complete doofus.
