Recovered Partitions followed by OS Crashing

#1 Post by Alexploration »

Hello I am new to TestDisk, I recently used it to find a missing partition that suddenly disappeared. I am running Windows 8 Pro, I found the missing partition after a deep scan and changed its type from D (deleted) to L (logical) and then confirmed this change followed by restarting my computer. Subsequently, I was faced with a blue screen that stated the following:

Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired

A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed.

Error code: 0xc0000225

You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.

Press Enter to try again
Press F8 for Startup Settings
Press F9 to use a different operating system

Are you sure that your partition has been logical?
Windows disk management console let you normally create an extended partition first, when you create your fourth partition.
Then you can create your logical partitions/volumes, as much as drive letters are available.
Otherwise if you'd like to create an extended partition, you have to use diskpart.
If your computer doesn't boot, you can use a liveCD to start from and execute testdisk.
You can use a camera and make some photos with low resolution and upload it.
A photo from TestDisk / Analyse with your current partition strucur (your current partition table) is appreciated.
Please don't run anything against your disk, like windows startup repair.
If your partitions in your partition table don't match, you can increase damage

Thank you for your reply. I am not certain that my partition was logical but I can tell you how I constructed it. I simply shrunk my C drive and then used the unused storage space to create a new partition, which I used for basic media storage. I didn't have a problem for several weeks and then suddenly the partition disappeared and I was unable to find it until I tried TestDisk. I am in the process of creating a liveCD and as soon as I am able to gain access into my computer I will post a screenshot of my current partition structure. I am new to using a liveCD, if their are any tips or things I should be aware of, please don't hesitate. I was going to follow the instructions on these two websites.
