Can I get lost files from this damaged disk?

#1 Post by thadyq »

I am using Mac OS X 10.4.11 and PhotoRec 6-13 to try to recover files from a damaged 2tb Western Digital external drive. Here is what PhotoRec shows after 19 hours and about one-third of the sectors read. At this point I halted it.

The disk originally had 6 partitions and crashed while I was cloning a Macbook Air with Mountain Lion to it using Superduper. Now it has no partitions. I could not mount it on the MBA but it mounted on a Mac Mini with OS X 10.4.11. I tried Testdisk but got nowhere so tried PhotoRec. The files I want to recover are mostly audiovisual. Is it worth continuing with PhotoRec to the end and if so, some tips would be appreciated.
Regards
