I have some problems with one of my CF cards and some of the files that I copy with windows are not working.
I started a photorec recovery and the CR2 files that did not work seem to copy ok to my recup_dir.1 and I see the preview picture with acdsee and everything.
BUT, the problem is that the files dissapear after another, and finally it wont recover anything. There is always one file but it gets deleted after photorec has processed the photo and moved to the next one and so on..
I think the problem is the same as here: http://forum.cgsecurity.org/phpBB3/phot ... t-t66.html
How can I just "copy" everything from my cf-card with photorec to a folder I select?
Recovered files dissapear from my recup dir Topic is solved

Re: Recovered files dissapear from my recup dir
Until yet, it wasn't possible to recreate such problem on my machine?
Something what you can do might be create a folder in your profile / pictures for example.
If anything still disappears, check the ownership of your folder using right cklick / properties / security.
Currently don't use the 64 bit version but only the 32 bit.

Re: Recovered files dissapear from my recup dir
I'm using the 6.13 (32bit version).
It's like photorec is not supporting the .CR2 files and they wont be saved. The card also has fully working CR2 files, but they wont get saved either.
I only get "apple: 1 recovered" but no photos or nothing else.
Can it be that Photorec is not supporting all canon RAW formats?

Re: Recovered files dissapear from my recup dir
Could you test it using fidentify like in this description;
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Add_your ... o_PhotoRec
Did you check the list?

Re: Recovered files dissapear from my recup dir
Do you mean like this?
Y:\testdisk-6.13>fidentify_win.exe y:/temp/IMG_2512.CR2
y:/temp/IMG_2512.CR2: cr2
Y:\testdisk-6.13>fidentify_win.exe y:/temp/IMG_2512.CR2
y:/temp/IMG_2512.CR2: cr2
Re: Recovered files dissapear from my recup dir
That file type is already supported.
Can you run PhotoRec as administrator using right klick?
Don't run any antivirus in the background.
Test it again.

Re: Recovered files dissapear from my recup dir
Have no antivirus and tried running it administrator.
Still no luck.
This is the problem: http://www.onemanarmy.org/photorec_problem.jpg
[File opt] is showing [X] crw Canon Raw picture (there is no cr2 there?)

Re: Recovered files dissapear from my recup dir
Can you test version 6.14-32bit.
Extract it to your users/pictures folder and test it.
It's only for testing purposes.

Re: Recovered files dissapear from my recup dir
Yes! with 6.14 (32bit) it works perfectly.
All the files will now recover and nothing will dissapear. The corrupted files (that don't work when copied with windows explorer) also work beautifully!
Is there an option to preserve original filenames? (would help when filling the corrupted files to the original album)

Re: Recovered files dissapear from my recup dir
Nope.
There is no option that PhotoRec recovers files and keeps their original filenames.
But it keeps exif data.
If you want to rename it using windows, you can have a look at irfan view and File / Batch Conversion/Rename.
It's in most cases ok.
