Unable to boot from Raid0 setup

#1 Post by cJack »

Hi, I'm trying to boot with my Raid0 setup but every time I switch it in the BIOS and restart it just blinks with a flashing line. I followed the step by step for testdisk, but it doesn't look like that at all and I'm not sure how to manage the results its giving me. Please help if you can, thank you.

Did you check your BIOS boot options?
How did you execute TestDisk?
Did you use a LiveCD or do you have another OS?

I did check the BIOS boot options and I used windows boot manager from BIOS to boot into windows then I ran testdisk but every time I switch to the Raid0 setup it stops after the starting windows icon and flashes with a line.

I'd need infos about your OS and servicepacks.
Did you install another windows to your RAID, where you tried to boot from?
Also infos about your disk management console is needed and TestDisk from Analyse (current partition structur is described) from booth, your current windows and your RAID.

My current OS is windows7 ultimate x64 and no service packs and I did not install another OS on RAID. My RAID setup is 2x OCZ vertex turbo ssd.

It looks like that you change your BIOS from BIOS to EFI (UEFI -> for Intel PC -> Unified Extensible Firmware Interface).
Would it be possible to get your RAID running only using your BIOS.
Without switching to EFI?
EFI creates an EFI system partition.
Your partition system reserved normally (now listed as Microsoft reserved) contains your start files.
It's a normal NTFS-Partition but there is no drive letter created.
This behavior is intended not to change anything to your boot partition and provides bitlocker support.

Might be an idea to refer to your motherboard manual and how to create a RAID using your BIOS not EFI.
Most RAID controller on motherboards have their own BIOS.
During POST (power one self test -> computerstart) you can find a message on how to enter your RAID BIOS.

I already used RAID BIOS to setup the array but I have to switch the boot option in the UEFI to boot from the RAID0 setup.

Your Partition MS Reserved looks like that it has a problem, either boot sector or file system after switching.
Might be posiible to have a boot sector diagnose. but first can you run Quick and Deeper Search, uploading screens?
Also check your found partitions and press p to list files.
Especially to change anything, might be advisable to have a backup like Acronis True Image or something similar.

This is a quick search

This is deeper search

It didn't find any partitions when I ran both the searches.
