Support for this filesystem hasn't been enable during compil

Apple Mac Book Pro with external Western Digital 2TB backup hard disk

Hi,

I tried upgrading to Mavericks yesterday but due to a hard disk fault the installation process was interrupted. I was asked to repair my hard disk. Disk Utility could not repair the main hard disk and I started backing up from my time machine backup located on the external WD hard disk. Backup failed with a hard disk error reported on my external hard disk. Talk about bad luck!

I formatted the main hard disk and installed Mavericks, I am now trying to salvage my data from the external hard disk.

This is how far I have gotten:
$ sudo fsck_hfs -rf /dev/disk1s2
Password:
** /dev/rdisk1s2
Executing fsck_hfs (version hfs-226.1.1).
** Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume.
Invalid B-tree node size
(3, 0)
** The volume could not be verified completely.

Using TestDisk:

SCREEN 1

Select a media (use Arrow keys, then press Enter):
Disk /dev/disk0 - 750 GB / 698 GiB (RO)
Disk /dev/disk1 - 2000 GB / 1863 GiB
Disk /dev/rdisk0 - 750 GB / 698 GiB (RO)
>Disk /dev/rdisk1 - 2000 GB / 1863 GiB <-- Broken disk

SCREEN 2
Disk /dev/rdisk1 - 2000 GB / 1863 GiB

Please select the partition table type, press Enter when done.
[Intel ] Intel/PC partition
>[EFI GPT] EFI GPT partition map (Mac i386, some x86_64...)
[Humax ] Humax partition table
[Mac ] Apple partition map
[None ] Non partitioned media
[Sun ] Sun Solaris partition
[XBox ] XBox partition
[Return ] Return to disk selection

Hint: EFI GPT partition table type has been detected.

SCREEN 3

Disk /dev/rdisk1 - 2000 GB / 1863 GiB
3907024896 sectors - sector size=512

>[ Analyse ] Analyse current partition structure and search for lost partitions
[ Advanced ] Filesystem Utils
[ Geometry ] Change disk geometry
[ Options ] Modify options
[ Quit ] Return to disk selection

SCREEN 4

Disk /dev/rdisk1 - 2000 GB / 1863 GiB - 3907024896 sectors
Current partition structure:
Partition Start End Size in sectors

1 P EFI System 40 409639 409600
2 P Mac HFS 409640 3906762711 3906353072

SCREEN 5

Disk /dev/rdisk1 - 2000 GB / 1863 GiB - 3907024896 sectors
Partition Start End Size in sectors
>P EFI System 40 409639 409600 [EFI]
P Mac HFS 409640 3906762711 3906353072

Structure: Ok. Use Up/Down Arrow keys to select partition.
Use Left/Right Arrow keys to CHANGE partition characteristics:
P=Primary D=Deleted
Keys A: add partition, L: load backup, T: change type, P: list files,
Enter: to continue
FAT32, blocksize=512, 209 MB / 200 MiB

Now this is where I do not know how to continue: If I select the EFI System Partition I can see the files when clicking "P". But this is not the backup data.
If I select the Mac HFS partition I see this:

P Mac HFS 409640 3906762711 3906353072

Support for this filesystem hasn't been enable during compilation.

I would be very thankful for any advice on how to continue!
Thanks!

** Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume.
Invalid B-tree node size
Looks like your file system is damaged!
EFI-GPT (needed ony for Intel Mac) is a system partition and has nothing to do with your data partition.
That's why you didn't find your data on this partition.
Your data-partition might be this one here;
2 P Mac HFS 409640 3906762711 3906353072
If your file system is corrupted, it might be possible that your not able to list any files.
In case and a safe solution might be datarecovery software.
You could try PhotoRec insread of or if you need directories and file names recovered also, you'd need commercial datarecovery software.
If you have photos etc.. you can test PhotoRec, included in your testdisk folder.
Some information;
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec
And a step by step guide here;
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec_Step_By_Step
Please don't change, write, modify anything to your affected disk/partition.
As a destination for recovered files you must use another healthy disk or partition.
