Hello, recuperation.
In fact, I had gotten testdisk from my package manager, and did not even realise photorec came along with it. So I went to the website and downloaded testdisk again
Anyway, I have successfully created the backup .img file from the problematic hard drive, and used dd to clone it to another one. Am now using photorec to retrieve as much as possible.
So far so good, I suppose.
This will take a while. Thank you very much, again, for all help. I'll report back to close the issue as soon as this is done.
