I've got information about your Disk from your crosspost;
HPFS - NTFS 0 4 5 45599 165 6 732558080 [My Book]
Unfortunatetly, Western Digital provides Data Lifeguard Diagnostic only to internal drives.
So it doesn't support a disk surface diagnose on USB.
CrystalDiskInfo reads your S.M.A.R.T-values and displayes them.
Infos;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M.A.R.T.
If CrystalDisk Info displayes your disk status as good, you can use it.
Also you can backup your data and check your file system using chkdsk driveletter: /r .
Backup means that you have your important data twice.
If not, you have no backup!

lol but ya you can also make a back up of your backed up backup as well, and you can make a backup of that backup of the backed up back up LOL

ill need more hardrives to do that lol i brought the 3tb because my current 1tb (partitioned as 400gb the rest partitiond in to music video picture and downloads) wasent big enouth as a back up, and before that i have a 500 gb iomega drive that was my backup drive so i ad 900gb of backup space avlable.

Oh and speaking of my iomega drive, crystal disk info says my iomega 500gb extenal drive is 48-53 c in tempature, is that bad, if so how do i fix it? and the iomega drive is also saying Caution its showing as yellow~!

I didn't recommend to make a backup of your backup.
If you have one, you can check your file system from your previous affected drive using chkdsk driveletter: /r.
It's typically maintenance.

Issues about your iomega disk are not related to TestDisk and PhotoRec.
Your temperature might be still ok, but pretty close to the edge.
