Hi,
I'll tried to use PhotoRec on my NAS to recover deleted files.
I used a procedure described at page:
http://qnapsupport.net/teknik-destek/ra ... -kurtarma/
I logged into my NAS using Putty, what worked well.
But when I tried to execute PhotoRec I've got the error "cannot execute binary file"
same error with both linux versions:
- Linux, kernel 2.6.18 or later i386
- Linux, kernel 2.6.18 or later x86_64
I found a hint in another forum, stating that QNAP TS-419p is using an ARM-processor and so SW compiled for Intel-processors will not work.
Is there any chance to compile an ARM-version of PhotoRec or can I compile PhotoRec for ARM-processor myself?
thanks for any comment or support.
BR Hilmar

How did you configure the drives? Single,JBOD, Raidx?

Raid1, but I have removed one of the mirrored hard disks to have a second chance for an recovery attempt, just in case I mess up something.

Re: PhotoRec on TS-419p - cannot execute binary file
If you are dealing with a plain vanilla simple single drive you would simply remove the drive and connect it to a linux machine.
On that linux machine you would run testdisk.
When you stated that you removed it from a RAID 1 configuration I don't know if the removal changed the RAID specific layout changes back to regular MBR/GPT standards that Testdisk understands Will have to ask Christophe here.

You can connect one of the disk to a computer running Windows or Linux and use PhotoRec from here.
It's easier than using PhotoRec in the NAS itself.

Brief update,
Recovery started.
Estimated time to completion currently 7h but permanently increasing.
I count with several days to restore roughly 1TB.
Thanks for your support
