Limit Quick Search Cylinder Range?

Hello there,

The partition table of my external hard drive was overwritten with another and now I need to restore one partition of interest.

I already found the details of the partition, like at which cylinder it starts (with one of those "freeware" tools which analyze properly but eventually want you to pay for actually restoring them).

Quick Search seems to search the whole hard drive for partitions which takes an extremely long time on my USB3 1 TB HDD; is it possible to limit this range to speed it up?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I am not aware of such a function.
The "add partition" function shows only up after running quick search.
Your requirement kind of breaks the supposed work flow in Testdisk.

I solved it by simply aborting the quick search, as I then had access to the manual "Add partition" function you mentioned, and it worked perfectly.

Yep, it's a bit against the workflow, which is probably why I didn't think of just aborting the search process.

Thanks for the great tool!
