TestDisk - Repair NTFS boot sector - how to undo
Posted: 10 Feb 2021, 17:40
Hi,
My external drive (2TB Seagate) was showing up as a RAW disk so I ran a quick scan (no luck) followed by deep scan to try to recover the data. The results were showing multiple Linux partitions which was incorrect; it should be one NTFS partition.
I then followed the recommended steps in the TestDisk PDF on repairing an NTFS boot sector (RebuildBS) and chose 'write' to finalise. The result was a recovered NTFS partition with one or two files / directories and none of my original data. Is it possible to reverse this?
Thanks,
Mick
