install of linux over windows

#1 Post by dappadon »

Hello All, thanks for any help you might offer or for just reading:

i am very new to testdisk so please forgive the potentially dumb questions:

I have a SSD that has had a linux install over a windows, so ext4 over ntfs. i really need to recover some pictures from the ntfs partition. as i failed with testdisk in limux i made a very rash decision to re-installl windiows and try and put the disk back to it original filesystem, amount of partions i.e. 1. and try to recover tha data from there.

is it going to be possible to restore any jpgs from the oiginak ntfs filessyem? if so please tell me how i can go about doing this?

and if you dont think it will be possible, would it have been possible before the windows rebuild? as i really could not see anyway of getting
