4 TB disk recovery w/ ~ 2.5 TB of data: Win 10 / NTFS.
Disk initially unrecognized but eventually was. How ? unknown, Perhaps random chance.
Partition found - 3 or 4 day run; recovered files listed; all 'a' selected.
Shift to destination disk, but might have taped button twice (?), shift stopped at root /
==> normal looking screen w/ "copying, please wait...9 OK, 0 failed" message in green. A grey/white button at lower left marked "Stop" - Nothing in between.
Nothing seemed copied so far (+1.5 hrs)
Should I stop?
Would I recover? Do not want to spend another 4 days in 'suspense mode'! Especially with an unstable disk.
Or is there another way to complete the destination disk shift?
Thanks!

Re: Recovery - copyng to wrong destinaton disk?
Check smart parameters and duplicate drive when in doubt to exclude drive health problems causing delays.
Re: Recovery - copyng to wrong destinaton disk?
A bit lost!! Response somewhat cryptic to me.
CrystalDiskInfo can check smart parameters ---- Ok! can see what you are getting at: I should have mention that root (/) refers to the disk wit the Win O/S and usually a smaller disk than the Storage Disk, whc was implied.

When not understand checking SMART parameters:
Just duplicate your drive using ddrescue as described in the manual.
Running Testdisk or Photorec on a healthy drive won't cause any delays by the behaviour of a broken drive.
You can watch the terminal output of ddrescue when duplicating and you will quickly find out how it is like when the source has errors and how the terminal output reacts. At least you get a feel what is happening.
