TestDisk sees deleted partition but Windows dont, after partition table got fixed

#1 Post by pivorsc »

Hello,

So my story is that was running out of space on C: drive so I used AOMEI Partition Manager to resize my partitions, never failed me before but this time it did :(. So i quickly run my favorite TestDisk from new Hirens Boot CD PE, quick search instatnly sees my deleted C: drive along with D: drive that i borrow space from (D: was fine). So i mark C: drive as Primary, write partition table, do a restart, but windows sees it as RAW and i cant access anything, AOMEI sees this partition, its correct label and size but also cannot acces it.

Since testdisk can see my files, i already begin to recover data from it and so far it goes fine.

So my question is, what can be wrong, that testdisk can see partition and files, but windows no?

Please help, thank you.

To be able to access a partition under Windows the partition table must be valid and there must a valid file system that Windows is able to read.
Fixing a partition table does not fix a broken partition.

Thank you for reply, heres some updates:

Testdisk managed to copy around 150gb from around 400gb that was on the C: drive, whats interesting it didnt see anything for example on Desktop directory.
Lazersoft Data Recovery managed to copy all 400gb of files (not saying that its better :P)
Scandisk from Hirens Boot CD PE managed to fix partition and now correctly shows in Windows with new size.
Made another copy of everything but some files are corrupted :(

Right now im trying to fix windows with installation disk with fixboot and sfc commands, no luck so far :(
