SD recovery

#1 Post by mapsurfer »

I downloaded the windows beta of Testdisk and Photorec..
Ran Photorec and ran it on a TF 128GB to recover a large number of stl files. I let it go unattended and checked later on the recovery. There were over 200 directories each containing all numeric filenames. Having thousands of files with numeric filename, makes it impossible to tell what was recovered. The files of the micro SDXC are still intact with their filenames and but getting numeric filenames is worthless. DISK Drill recovered 500mb with filenames, but Photorec didn't work for me. I took the time to try Testdisk & Photorec so I thought I'd share the results.

Ran Photorec
Why didn't you start with Testdisk instead?
and ran it on a TF
What is "TF"?

Ten thousands of happy Photorec users may have a different opinion. Photorec is the tool of last resort and was working how it was supposed to work. It does not rely on file system metadata.

You did not share your Testdisk experience.
& Photorec so I thought I'd share the results.
