Failed bitlocker encryption left the drive locked but unencrypted

Hi,
After trying to encrypt the system drive with bitlocker without unchecking run system check at the end (there is a years old bug that would lock the drive without encrypting it in some weird edge case after the "run system check" reboot) the drive is now locked but not encrypted. Recovery key doesn't work.
I'm wondering if there is a way to use testdisk to delete the part that makes the drive show as locked bitlocker so it becomes accessible again. The data is there but I don't have another disk of that size to copy it atm.
Please keep in mind I don't know anything and have never used testdisk before.
Found a few mentions of the same problem here
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Fo ... rosecurity

No solutions other than copying the data which I would still try to do before trying any suggestions here, but finding a solution that doesn't require it would be great.
Thanks!
