I have run PhotoRec several times. A few have resulted in folders that I can see the files.
Many times I run Photorec it show I recovered 100's of files, but I am unable to see them. The first screen shot is running Photorec and when I select the recovery folder, it shows many recovery folders. When I use windows explorer or view from command prompt it shows the folder is empty. I am not sure how I can see these files.

Have a look the folder names! 8-)

Your recovered "recup"-folders are in D:\recovery
and NOT in D:\recover.

I don't have a d:\recovery folder. Which is probably the biggest reason I cannot see them.

Your first screenshot shows your recup-folders below "D:\Recovery".
It looks as if you want to redo another recovery in a place that is already taken.
By the way, If D: is a broken location you should better recover to another disk.

D: has not had any other issues. I am wondering if there are file permissions or types that is causing me to not see the files / folder.
I looked at the sizes for the disk. The properties show 250 GB more files on the drive than when I select all the files on the drive (showing hidden also) and display the properties. The selected files properties is image on left. This would be consistent with the recovery files being on the disk. I might try a boot image and see if they show up in Linux. But that is my only other idea to see the files.

Use a tool like Treesize Free to search for your recovery.

That's awesome. Do you know why Treesize Free shows the files and explorer does not?
